AGUSTIN MENDEZ

BIO

Agustín Méndez (Madrid, 20 December 1963) was born into the family of the artist and art restorer María Victoria Pérez-Camarero and the entrepreneur Agustín Mendez.

Méndez the father spoke five languages and worked in numerous different fields - he traded in petroleum, ran restaurants and, after the death of his wife, dedicated himself fully to the world of sculpture and design.

Their house was frequently visited by many famous artists of the time, including Antonio López, Eduardo Chillida, Fernando Zóbel, Pablo Palazuelo, Francisco Mateos and César Manrique.
This artistic environment has significantly influenced Agustín's career. He initially attended the Madrid School of Arts and Crafts and afterwards studied sculpture under the artistic supervision of the master Julio López Hernández. He sold his first artworks at the age of 17, which were acquired by Josephine Hesse, a Spanish-German art dealer.

Later on Agustín decided to dedicate his professional life to architecture. After graduating from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, he worked for clients in Spain, Japan, the Gulf states and Africa. Currently his architectural bureau works for a wide range of international clients. He continues to paint and experiment with different styles.
